ANDREI PUNGOVSCHI

Three Romanian young women living in Hamburg and Prague used technology to help their hometown fight COVID-19. They created a facebook page that raised money for medical equipment and, most importantly, empathy. In response to their initiative, people donated money, the local mountain patrol volunteered to distribute the equipment they bought, other local associations joined in the distribution effort, 23 local seamstresses offered to make over 6000 masks, local doctors provided lists of vulnerable people in need of food, masks and gloves. The local hospital and first responders were provided with crucial protective equipment when the national stockpile was out. This is a small town in the north called Vatra Dornei, in the middle of Suceava county, the hardest hit region of Romania.
